Zejlik Leib Bardichever was born into a poor family in the county Bessarabian town of Balti. His father, Isaac, Duvid Haskelevich Bardichever ( 1851 - ?), Came from Mogilev on the Dniester Podolsk province, from where his
family in 1854 moved to Jewish agricultural colony of Alexander county in Bessarabia. His mother, Chaya Rivka Berkovna Bardichever, was a native of Balti. He was engaged in self-education. Being Melamed (Children teacher) he wandered through the towns and villages of Bessarabia and neighboring Moldova in search of employment. In the 1920s, began writing and performing songs on his own poems in the tradition of itinerant Jewish folk singers ( Broder Zingerov, Velvl Zbarzhera, Elyakuma Tsunzera, Berl Broder and others).By the 1930s, became a popular, despite the lack of publications in Jewish publications. Wrote the music to the poems of other poets, such as the popular ELLEGIYA “Fun shheynishn Dorf” (From the neighboring village) Hertz Rivkin. One time was working in a creative organization “Artistic League” (League of Culture), wrote and staged amateur plays. Only in the last years of his life began to be published in the editions of “Chernovitser bleter” (Chernivtsi sheets) and "Ufgang” (Sunrise, Sunset). Bardichever led roguish life and died of pulmonary tuberculosis in Yasah (Rumania).
After his death , with the help of the singer and composer Leib Levin and Jewish writer Hersh Segal, in Chernovits had been published a collection of songs with notes Bardichevera «לידער מיט ניגונים» (Leader mit nigunim - Lyrics and melodies, 1939), reprinted in Montevideo in 1948, and Rehoboth in 1980. Songs Zejlik Bardichevera performed various performers and continues till present time (Leib Levin, Chava Alberstein, Arkady Gendler, Mikhail Alexandrovich, and others).
