 It was originally written by Mordkhe Rivesman  (1868 – 1924), who was born in Vilno Lithuania. The song was also called “Latke Song” and “Khanike Oy Khanike”.
 Mordkhe Rivesman or Mark Semenovich Riversman was a teacher, the writer, the transelator and the theatrical figure. Till 12 years He studied in hеdеrе. Later has graduate a city grammar school. Within 5 years taught an yiddish in Vilno. From 1896 worked in schools OPE (the Society for propagation of education  between Jews) in Saint Petersburg. Entered into the commission of the help to the Jewish teachers who have injured within WW1. It was printed on a yiddish in periodicals («Дер фрайнд », « Дер togas»). Active participant ОЕНМ (Society of the Jewish folk music) by which member of board has been selected on October, 1st 1912. In 1916 participated in creation ЕТО (the Jewish theatrical society) and has been selected as a member. In 1919 in Petrograd as the teacher of a Yiddish participated in creation of the Jewish theatre-studio of Alexey Granovskogo.  Later managed a literary part of the Jewish Chamber theatre created on the basis  of studio. In 1923 helped Моисею Мльнеру with a writing of the libretto to the opera"Дер химлен" or "Heavens flare"
