Yidl Mitn Fidl (1936) Wedding Scene
Lyrics - Itsik Manger (1902-1969) Music - Abraham Ellstein (1907-1964)

Some sources have said that the Jewish movie “Yidl mitn Fidl” ,was the last movie produced in Poland ,before the war in 1936. The main character “Yidl” was played by the famous actress Molly Picon, who was born in Poland.
The story is about a young girl who plays the fiddle and her father Arye, a bass player. To help ends meet, they are forced to travel to play Jewish weddings. Yidl disguises herself as a boy, as her father says she will be safer that way.
When they travel, they meet two musicians, who join them to form a band. Meanwhile Yidl falls in love with handsome Froim-clarinetist. Later Froim recognize that Yidl is a girl and falls in love with her.
The movie gives us a rare view of the Shtetl live before WW2.
